about

Anna Snowball is a documentary filmmaker based in England.

I'm a filmmaker interested in meeting outsiders existing in the gaps between cultures. I specialise in unique access, observational filming, humour in the everyday, and mixed-media collages. I drawn to the borders of fiction and non-fiction.

My films have been screened at BFI London Film Festival, Aesthetica, Underwire, Open City Docs, the Iris Film Prize and London Short Film Festival. I was selected as a BAFTA Guru Pro in 2016, shortlisted for a Grierson Award in 2015, studied an MA in Directing Documentary at the National Film and Television School between 2013-2014 and did a filmmaking residency with the BFI in 2012.

I’ve recently released Iranian Yellow Pages with Netflix, and I’m currently making my first feature film, which participated in the Creative Europe funded ESoDoc lab. Alongside my independent films, I direct commercials and branded content. I’m also a visiting lecturer for the National Film and Television School and Met Film School.

I’m represented for commercials by Fresh Film, and produce documentaries through my production company, Snow Films.
